Insanity Day 3-Cardio Power and Resistance

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Insanity Workout

This day went a lot smoother than Insanity Day 2.  I’ll have to say after the day 2 workout I had a bit of a migraine that lasted for a day or so.  It really sucked and I think I just pushed myself to hard.  There is a warning when you do the videos to drink a lot of water because you will be sweating a lot and it can cause headaches.

I decided that if I were going continue with the Insanity Workouts I would have to slow my pace down and not even consider trying to keep up with the people on the video.  It kind of reminds me of when I started p90x the first month was slow and then the second month it gets easier and you can push a bit more.

Even if you’re in good shape, which you really need to be before starting these videos your likely going have to go slower then the videos.  Sometimes it even feels like your watching the people in fast forward that is how quick it can feel at times.

These videos are definitely not for just starting out in fitness and trying to get in shape, I would say there for someone in great shape trying to get in awesome shape or trying to improve there interval cardio.

Anyhow Day 3 workout is mostly cardio moves, jumping, hopping, squat jumping, running in place etc.  I liked it more then day 2 and I took my time, which I think helped it go smoother, I really concentrated on my breathing and just stuck to my own pace.  Shaun T encourages you to go faster by the 3 or 4th set it gets super fast, but I decided this time I would just stick to what feels good to me.  Hopefully this doesn’t result in a headache later today.

Insanity Day 2-Pylometric Cardio Circuit

Day 2-Pylometric Cardio Circuit
This first workout really is kinda of a killer. There isn’t a lot of routine you have to learn just realize at each set, you’re going to go faster. The toughest part of this video is a little push up series they have at the end, this will really test your strength and cardio combined.

I was sorta of surprised about how little break time you get. You do get a few 30 seconds breaks but they go quite quickly and I did have to hit the pause button a couple times. I’m excited to see how I progress through this 60 day process.

This workout makes you miss the calm Tony Horton and his friendly demeanor.

Day 1 Insanity Workout-Fit Test

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Insanity Workout

The first day of the insanity workouts is just a fitness test to see were you at and learn the moves.  This kinda gives you a sample of what is coming!

I would not start the insanity workout with out being in great shape to start with.  I think it would be better to complete p90x before starting this program or else be in great shape to start with.  This seems like the kinda of program that isn’t for getting in shape, but bringing a high level of fitness even higher.

I’m scared of this program but also excited to try something new!

Insanity Workout Videos

Well I now have the insanity workout and have completed the first couple days.  I will be reviewing this workout as I go through and comparing it to the p90x workout.

insanityworkout

This is going be one hard core workout, just from doing the first couple videos, I would not suggest this workout to a beginner or someone just jumping back into fitness.

The Insanity series had being getting compared to p90x a lot, I think it is because it is a program where you do a different video everyday, there is a nutrition plan and a calender.  The difference though is this program is only 60 days vs the 90 days, also this program seems to be more cardio and speed training involved as well.

The workout is like one long interval training class, with high intensity cardio and some strength moves tossed in.  The video and people move very quickly and there are not many rest breaks at all.

I would suggest doing p90x or at several months of solid fitness training before starting this workout.  If you do not like P90x Pylometrics you will not like the Insanity workouts.

P90x Vs Insanity

The videos are technically shorter than most of the p90x workouts, the insanity ones are around 45 minutes, while the p90x can vary from 60 minutes to 90 minutes.  But I’ll have to say, the actually workout time feels the same, this is because you have this chit chat coming from Shaun T then you do from Tony Horton.  I would even say if you cut out all of Tony’s talking breaks, the actually workout time would be close to the same on some of the videos.

Shaun T is not spending time talking with you and explaining much of the moves it is mostly just go, go, go.

Insanity With P90x

At first I thought I would be doing Insanity workouts with some p90x workouts mixed in, since last week I did week 1 of p90x, but after doing the insanity video today, I realized I would not want to do both videos.  I think it would just be too much video time.  So instead I’m doing the Insanity workouts, mixed with lifting at the gym three days a week.

I’ll be reviewing more of the videos as I go through them.  I’ll have to say I miss Tony a little bit, but so far so good.

Breaking The P90x Rules

Okay so I have decided to do a little p90x while I wait for my new workout THE INSANITY WORKOUT also by beach body and Shaun T.

I like p90x though, I think it is one of the best at home workout outs, not only the moves but Tony Horton himself makes it a good experience.

I thought about doing p90x all over again, but I’m just to tempted to try the Insanity workout, which is a 60 day program and looks pretty sweet!

In the meantime though I’m going get back to doing a little p90x, I’m going to follow the program until I have the Insanity workout and then I’m going to just do maybe the P90x Yoga and maybe one of the strength DVDs.

Working out is
All about getting in shape for me, that may mean switching up programs adding and subtracting some things.  The point of most workouts including p90x is to get fit and get used to working your body every day.  If a workout program doesn’t seem fun or I don’t think I’m putting in the best effort, then that tells me one thing, switch it up.  It is not an excuse to quit working out, but to find a new activity to do, so I can keep progressing my strength and fitness levels.

Breaking Workout Rules

It is fun to follow a fitness plan and accomplish what you set out to do, but really think about a workout plan before you start it and see how it works with your lifestyle.  You may have to break the rules and guidelines that some programs set up for you and rearrange the workouts to fit you day.

Some people get really amazing results doing p90x while others don’t.  This probably is because the people who are getting the results, love the workout and are really pushing themselves, while the others are just going through the motion and watch the clock through the whole video.

Although I think there are good parts to P90x and I do intend to incorporate some of the videos into my week, I’m really ready to try something else like the Insanity Workout and some heavy lifting at the gym.

But until my new videos come I’ll be dusting off the p90x weights!
