Insanity Day 3-Cardio Power and Resistance

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Insanity Workout

This day went a lot smoother than Insanity Day 2.  I’ll have to say after the day 2 workout I had a bit of a migraine that lasted for a day or so.  It really sucked and I think I just pushed myself to hard.  There is a warning when you do the videos to drink a lot of water because you will be sweating a lot and it can cause headaches.

I decided that if I were going continue with the Insanity Workouts I would have to slow my pace down and not even consider trying to keep up with the people on the video.  It kind of reminds me of when I started p90x the first month was slow and then the second month it gets easier and you can push a bit more.

Even if you’re in good shape, which you really need to be before starting these videos your likely going have to go slower then the videos.  Sometimes it even feels like your watching the people in fast forward that is how quick it can feel at times.

These videos are definitely not for just starting out in fitness and trying to get in shape, I would say there for someone in great shape trying to get in awesome shape or trying to improve there interval cardio.

Anyhow Day 3 workout is mostly cardio moves, jumping, hopping, squat jumping, running in place etc.  I liked it more then day 2 and I took my time, which I think helped it go smoother, I really concentrated on my breathing and just stuck to my own pace.  Shaun T encourages you to go faster by the 3 or 4th set it gets super fast, but I decided this time I would just stick to what feels good to me.  Hopefully this doesn’t result in a headache later today.

Can You Get in Shape Using Wii Fit?

Recently I bought the Wii Fit

Can you really get in shape using Wii fit only?

I have read a lot of different articles and blogs about people saying they got in shape and lost a bunch of weight using the wii fit.  I can’t say if this is true, I don’t think much weight loss would be happening by just using the game the wii fit comes with.  If people are actually loosing a lot of weight by playing just this game, then they must of significantly changed there diet as well.

All about Balance
The basic Wii fit game is fun, but I wouldn’t call it much of a workout.  It is more teaching you about balance and thinking about your posture.  Most of the games deal with balance and it is kind of fun to see how bad your balance is.

One Good Thing
One thing I really like about the game is that you get to set up weight loss goals and you get to have a little calender that you update everyday which can show you progressing toward your goal.  That alone would make me want to play this game again.

Overall Thoughts
Overall though the games are very basic and not hard what so ever, I’ll have to see how they progress and if they get harder as you unlock different moves and levels.  But one of the things the trainer says to you is don’t breath hard you’ll raise your blood pressure.  So it is obvious that this game is more about balance and not about getting your sweat on.

I know there are other balance board games that are more about getting your fitness on, maybe I’ll try one of those out in the future.

Compared to P90x or Insanity workouts
If you have done p90x or the Insanity workouts your probably going to think Wii fit is a bit lame.

If you have gotten in shape just using Wii Fit let me know and also what game you used!

Insanity Day 2-Pylometric Cardio Circuit

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Insanity Workout

Day 2-Pylometric Cardio Circuit
This first workout really is kinda of a killer. There isn’t a lot of routine you have to learn just realize at each set, you’re going to go faster. The toughest part of this video is a little push up series they have at the end, this will really test your strength and cardio combined.

I was sorta of surprised about how little break time you get. You do get a few 30 seconds breaks but they go quite quickly and I did have to hit the pause button a couple times. I’m excited to see how I progress through this 60 day process.

This workout makes you miss the calm Tony Horton and his friendly demeanor.

Day 1 Insanity Workout-Fit Test

Posted by: admin  /  Category: Insanity Workout

The first day of the insanity workouts is just a fitness test to see were you at and learn the moves.  This kinda gives you a sample of what is coming!

I would not start the insanity workout with out being in great shape to start with.  I think it would be better to complete p90x before starting this program or else be in great shape to start with.  This seems like the kinda of program that isn’t for getting in shape, but bringing a high level of fitness even higher.

I’m scared of this program but also excited to try something new!

Insanity Workout Videos

Well I now have the insanity workout and have completed the first couple days.  I will be reviewing this workout as I go through and comparing it to the p90x workout.

insanityworkout

This is going be one hard core workout, just from doing the first couple videos, I would not suggest this workout to a beginner or someone just jumping back into fitness.

The Insanity series had being getting compared to p90x a lot, I think it is because it is a program where you do a different video everyday, there is a nutrition plan and a calender.  The difference though is this program is only 60 days vs the 90 days, also this program seems to be more cardio and speed training involved as well.

The workout is like one long interval training class, with high intensity cardio and some strength moves tossed in.  The video and people move very quickly and there are not many rest breaks at all.

I would suggest doing p90x or at several months of solid fitness training before starting this workout.  If you do not like P90x Pylometrics you will not like the Insanity workouts.

P90x Vs Insanity

The videos are technically shorter than most of the p90x workouts, the insanity ones are around 45 minutes, while the p90x can vary from 60 minutes to 90 minutes.  But I’ll have to say, the actually workout time feels the same, this is because you have this chit chat coming from Shaun T then you do from Tony Horton.  I would even say if you cut out all of Tony’s talking breaks, the actually workout time would be close to the same on some of the videos.

Shaun T is not spending time talking with you and explaining much of the moves it is mostly just go, go, go.

Insanity With P90x

At first I thought I would be doing Insanity workouts with some p90x workouts mixed in, since last week I did week 1 of p90x, but after doing the insanity video today, I realized I would not want to do both videos.  I think it would just be too much video time.  So instead I’m doing the Insanity workouts, mixed with lifting at the gym three days a week.

I’ll be reviewing more of the videos as I go through them.  I’ll have to say I miss Tony a little bit, but so far so good.

What To Expect With P90x Ab Ripper X Workout

Posted by: admin  /  Category: P90X Workout

3 days a week hitting up Ab Ripper X

abripper

The Ab Ripper X Workout is what you could call a little mini bonus at the end or the strength day workouts.  It kinda sucks can you can never really celebrate at the end of long strength workout, because you know that you have 17 minutes of Ab Ripper X left.

What To Expect With p90x Ab Ripper X Workout
You can expect to do a lot of ab work and if you don’t have decent ab strength you can expect to not keep up and take a lot of breaks.

This video is a one where you can actually see your prgression happen.  On week 1 of p90x I was really kinda of struggling through the video even though I have strong abs to begin with, but by week 3 p90x I was keeping up with the people and the moves.

It takes a couple time through the video to get a good grasp on the moves, but once you do the video goes quickly.  Tony is right to the point in this workout, there is no warm up and the cool down is quick and easy, also very little chit chat from tony, you just go from one ab move to the next.

Overall the video has a nice flow to it.

What To Expect With The P90X Kenpo Workout

Posted by: admin  /  Category: P90X Workout

The last workout of the Week before rest or stretch day is Kenpo

Kenpo

Today I did P90x Kenpo Workout, I actually really like this workout and think it is some fun cardio and I love that there is No Ab Ripper X After It!

What To Expect With P90X Kenpo Workout
Kenpo is a mixed martial arts video, but if you have every taking a kickboxing cardio class it is very similar type of workout.  Lots of punches (jabs, uppercuts, cross jab etc), also there is a series of kicks and blocks and then at the very end there will be some combination moves throught the video.

This video itself has one of the longest warm ups, it is close to twelve minutes.  It is understandable with all the kicking and punching you got to get those muscles warm.

Sometimes I feel like the workout is easy, but the next day I’m always surprised to find that a wake up a little sore.

From most people I talk to they either love or hate this video, I guess it just depends if you like martial art moves.
